I finished my Eagle Project!!!

I finished my Eagle Project on Thursday, July 23rd by unveiling a new informational kiosk at Lower Hobble Creek in Springville.  The kiosk and sign look great.  My friends at the DWR say they are pleased with how the kiosk and sign turned out.  I would like to thank all of the people who helped donate time, resources, money, and those who helped me recycle metal, and who helped guide me on my project!

I wrote down some things that I said at the unveiling of my Eagle Project kiosk and sign:

People who I would like to thank,  Jackie Watson: she's a DWR biologist who helped start the kiosk/sign idea. Mike Mills of JSRIP who matched the funds we raised.  Scott Root of DWR who provided guidance, June Standley who donated her time to design the sign, and all the other people who gave money and helped me with this project. Mainly my dad he kept me on track to get this project Finished.

So how I got started on the Eagle Project was when My dad and I were bow-fishing underneath this bridge. It was dark so I couldn't really see anything. I thought  I saw a carp in the water so I shot at it. Instead of a carp, of course it was a June Sucker. We didn't know at first what type of fish it was. So we called the DNR and we figured out the fish and we decided to make awareness for the fish. And that's how it all happened.

Thank you for coming.

June sucker kiosk and sign unveiling

The public is invited to come see the June sucker kiosk and sign on Thursday, July 23rd at 4:00 p.m. at the Lower Hobble Creek Wildlife Management Area, just west of I-15 on the frontage road (about 1200 North and 2000 West in Springville).

There will be June sucker stickers for everyone who attends!  Thanks for all who helped me with my Eagle Project!

Kiosk is ready!

We picked up the kiosk from Allied Electric Sign yesterday.  It's made of aluminum, has a Plexiglas front to protect the sign and is keyed for security.  The guys at the sign company were very helpful getting the sign into my dad's trailer.  It's nice that the sign company is so close in Springville.

Kiosk Building Phase of my project

Kiosk being built in the Allied Sign shop.
We put a down payment on the kiosk with the funds we raised and construction has started.  We stopped by Allied Sign in Springville to check on some plans and they let us see the kiosk being built.  The kiosk is built to last, made of sturdy aluminum.  It will have a Plexiglas cover to protect the sign.  We hope to have the kiosk ready to install by this Saturday.  You are welcome to come help at 6:00 p.m. at Lower Hobble Creek.

Thanks for the help and donations at the Utah Lake Festival!

I would like to thank everyone that stopped by my booth at the Utah Lake Festival.  A special thanks to Luke Allen of the Utah Lake Commission who helped me get a spot at the festival.  We had a real cool spot right next to a real June sucker from the Living Planet Aquarium.  Thanks to the public for purchasing stickers and to all of the guys in my unit who volunteered.  We sold almost 100 stickers and collected over $230 for my Eagle Project.

We need your help raising more funds for the kiosk.

Last weekend my grandparents helped me out with my project by donating aluminum cans and giving me some cash.  We're up to $719.83!  Thanks to both of my grandma's and grandpa's!

The kiosk I want is going to be more expensive than I planned by about $1000.  I guess this is why it's called a project.

I have set up a GoFundMe account to get the word out to help me raise more money.  Share the link on Facebook and tell 248 of your closest friends.  If you don't want to use PayPal or GoFundMe, just write me a note at eagleprojectjunesucker@gmail.com.

Here is what the kiosk might look like:

Here's the latest version of the sign, it's looking great!  Our graphic designer is AWESOME!!!
